Accra hosted the inaugural German-Ghanaian Business Day this week, bringing together senior government officials, private sector leaders and development partners as part of ongoing bilateral negotiations for development cooperation between the two countries.
The German Ambassador to Ghana, Frederik Landshöft, opened the event, highlighting growing momentum in trade and investment ties. He was joined by Christoph Rauh of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development and Stefanie Schmid-Lübbert of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy, who both pointed to Ghana’s economic reforms as a catalyst for deeper collaboration.
Ghana’s Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, delivered the keynote address, outlining national priorities anchored in industrialisation, stronger value chains and job-creating manufacturing.
She reaffirmed Ghana’s commitment to expanding cooperation with German partners and announced plans to establish new garment factories across three regions.

The programme also featured a pitch session on German trade and development instruments, with expert inputs from AHK Ghana, GIZ, and KfW.
Breakout discussions were held across strategic sectors including agribusiness, energy, construction, health and pharmaceuticals, and the digital economy. These sessions provided a platform to translate policy dialogue into concrete collaborations, identify investment opportunities, and shape project ideas expected to feed directly into bilateral development cooperation.
Officials from both countries described the business day as an important step toward strengthening economic ties and driving sustainable, mutually beneficial growth.
