Ghana’s Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa met Rune Skinnebach, ambassador of the European Union, on Wednesday to discuss strengthening bilateral cooperation, with talks focusing on peace and security initiatives.
During the meeting, the minister described the EU as one of Ghana’s most important development partners, citing longstanding collaboration in trade, education and security. He said ongoing strategic engagements between Accra and Brussels were expected to deepen ties and broaden opportunities for mutual growth.
Skinnebach reaffirmed the EU’s commitment to what he called a responsive and impactful partnership, assuring that the bloc would continue to support Ghana’s priority sectors. He emphasised the EU’s readiness to work closely with Ghanaian authorities to advance stability, development and regional cooperation.
Officials said the engagement forms part of regular diplomatic consultations aimed at reinforcing relations and identifying areas for expanded collaboration. Both sides expressed optimism that sustained dialogue would translate into practical outcomes benefiting citizens and strengthening institutional links between Ghana and the European Union.
