The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has announced that the Navy has conducted a search-and-rescue operation within Ghana’s territorial waters following a dawn attack on some fishermen Thursday.
The attack is said to have occurred about 35 nautical miles off the coast of Senya Bereku in the Central Region.
The attack was on some fishing vessels, a GAF statement on Thursday, February 26 said.
“The operation is ongoing and the Ghana Armed Forces appeals to all to remain calm.”
The Ghana Air Force is supporting the operation, according to the statement issued by Captain Veronica Adzo Arhin, the Acting Director General of Public Relations for the Ghana Armed Forces.
