Police in the Eastern South Regional Command have arrested a 26-year-old Nigerian man believed to be a fugitive wanted for the killing of a woman and her daughter in Nigeria, authorities said Sunday.
The suspect, identified as Victor Benjamin Fejemirokum, was taken into custody at Akyem Wenchi, a suburb of Akwatia, after Ghanaian security officials intercepted a viral video alleging he had abducted and murdered a woman employed by Nigeria’s Federal Road Safety Corps and her daughter in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
According to police, Fejemirokum fled Nigeria to evade arrest and sought refuge at a friend’s residence in Ghana. Following intelligence that he was hiding in Akwatia, officers launched an intelligence-led operation that resulted in his swift arrest.
He is currently being held as arrangements are made to hand him over to Nigerian authorities.
The Eastern South Regional Police Command urged the public to immediately report any suspicious individuals or activities in their communities, emphasizing that early information can help prevent crime.
Police officials assured residents that security operations across the region will be sustained to deter criminal activity and maintain public safety.
