Ghana’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has held talks with the Secretary-General of the Organisation of African Trade Union Unity (OATUU), Mr Arezki Mezhoud, as part of ongoing engagements to strengthen labour cooperation across the continent.
Mr Mezhoud paid a courtesy call on the minister on Friday, 16 January 2026, at the Foreign Affairs Ministry in Accra. The meeting focused on the role of organised labour in advancing workers’ rights and promoting social justice in Africa.
Mr Ablakwa commended the OATUU Secretary-General for his leadership and sustained contributions to championing the welfare and collective interests of African workers. He reaffirmed Ghana’s commitment to supporting continental institutions that promote decent work, unity and economic progress.
Mr Mezhoud, in turn, expressed appreciation to the Government of Ghana for its continued support, noting that the cooperation has helped ensure the smooth operations of the organisation.
The engagement underscored Ghana’s broader commitment to labour solidarity and Pan-African cooperation.
