The Ghanaian government has confirmed that a truck carrying Ghanaian tomato traders was attacked in northern Burkina Faso, raising serious concerns about the safety of its citizens abroad.
According to official reports, the incident occurred on Saturday, February 14, in the town of Titao. The circumstances surrounding the attack, including casualties and injuries, have not yet been fully verified.
In a statement, the government said, “The Government of Ghana has received disturbing information from Burkina Faso of a truck carrying tomato traders from Ghana which was caught in a terrorist attack in Titao, Burkina Faso, on Saturday, February 14, 2026.”
The statement further confirmed that the Ghana Embassy in Burkina Faso is coordinating closely with local authorities to visit the attack site, obtain details, and identify the affected Ghanaians.
Authorities in Accra have assured the public that every effort is being made to ensure the welfare of the traders, working in collaboration with both Burkinabè officials and international partners.
The government has urged citizens travelling abroad, particularly in regions prone to unrest, to exercise heightened caution and report any security concerns immediately.
As investigations continue, officials are expected to provide updates on the condition of the traders and any necessary support measures for those affected by the attack.
