The Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs, Honourable James Gyakye Quayson (MP), officially commissioned the Passport Application Centre in Goaso, Ahafo Region, on Wednesday, 31st December 2025, marking a significant step in the Government’s agenda to decentralise essential services.
Speaking at the event, the Deputy Minister emphasised that the centre would reduce travel burdens, costs, delays, and curb the activities of middlemen. He urged staff to uphold professionalism and integrity while serving applicants. During the ceremony, he personally handed over a passport to one of the first applicants, symbolising the centre’s operational readiness.
The Regional Minister, Honourable Charity Gardiner, noted that the Goaso centre aligns with President Mahama’s vision of bringing public services closer to the people, easing congestion at other centres, and improving service efficiency. She encouraged stakeholders to support the facility to ensure its success.
Honourable Collins Dauda, MP for Asutifi South, representing the Ahafo parliamentary caucus, expressed gratitude to the Government for its continued support in advancing regional development initiatives.
The commissioning ceremony was attended by traditional leaders across the Ahafo Region, including Nana Afia Serwaa (Goaso Manhemaa), Nana Osuodumgya Appiadwaa Boafo (Hwidiem Manhene), and other chiefs representing key towns and communities. Their presence underscored the importance of the facility in promoting accessible and efficient public service delivery in the region.
