After the Match Day 12 fixtures of the Ghana Premier League on Sunday, April 16, Asante Kotoko’s winless run continued following a 1-0 loss at Wa All Stars.
Abeiku Ainooson missed a penalty which would have drawn the former champions level.
But the defending champions held on to claim all three points. It was the first match for the Porcupine Warriors after the dismissal of coach Zdravko Logarusic.
In Accra, Winful Cobbina clinched a point for former champions Hearts of Oak at the Accra Sports Stadium.
After a goalless first half, Joseph Mensah put debutants Elmina Sharks ahead in the 59th minute before Cobbina equalized four minutes later.
Ashanti Gold’s nosedive seems to be seeing no stoppage as the Miners lost 1-0 to Inter Allies at the El Wak Sports Stadium.
The top of the league continues to be keenly contested as West African Football Academy (Wafa) and Aduana Stars won their respective home games.
Wafa, who occupy the summit, beat Bolgatanga All Stars 2-0 while Aduana Stars, just on the heels of the Academicians, beat Tema Youth 3-0 in the week’s biggest win.
Medeama SC had also rekindled their campaign a day earlier with a 2-0 win over Bechem United on Saturday.
