Management of Ghana Water Limited in the Accra West Region has announced a temporary shutdown of the Weija Treatment Plant for repair works.
According to a press release issued on Tuesday, December 2, one of the major pipelines bringing water from the Plant to the western parts of Accra has developed serious perforations.
This the press release noted can cause the faulty pipeline to give way if immediate action is not taken to repair it.
This exercise is expected to halt water production temporarily.
It will start from 6:00am to 6:00pm on Thursday, December 4.
Areas to be affected include Korle-Bu, Dansoman, Mamprobi, Parts of Weija, Gbawe, Malam, Anyaa, and Kwashieman.
The rest are Ablekuma, Darkuman. Kaneshie, Tesano, Odorkor, Sowutuom, Lapaz, parts of Achimota, North
Industrial Area, and adjoining communities.
“While we assure customers of resumption of production as soon as the work is completed, we also encourage them to store water ahead of the shutdown.”
