Former Member of Parliament for Tema East, Daniel Nii Kwartei Titus Glover, has publicly commended President John Dramani Mahama for what he described as a bold, non-partisan decision to support a poultry business owned by a known opposition figure.
Speaking on Metro TV Goodmorning Ghana, Mr Titus Glover said he believes governments must be criticised when they err but equally commended when they take the right decisions. He cited the President’s recent visit to the farm of Boris B, a poultry farmer and prominent supporter of the New Patriotic Party, as a positive example of leadership above partisan politics.
According to the former MP, the President directed the Minister for Food and Agriculture to explore the use of locally produced chicken from the farm to supply senior high schools, with payments facilitated through the Ghana Education Trust Fund. He said the move would create a ready market for local producers while ensuring reliable food supply for students.
Mr Titus Glover noted that in the past, businesses linked to opposition figures had sometimes suffered due to political considerations, but described the President’s action as a welcome departure from that practice.
He argued that excessive politicisation of economic initiatives undermines national development, adding that competence and merit should always override party affiliation. He urged Ghanaians to support policies that promote local production and national unity, regardless of political differences.
