About 500 members of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, have visited the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park in Accra as part of activities marking the organisation’s 118th Founder’s Day celebrations in Ghana.
The visit, hosted by the Adinkra Group and led by its President and Chief Executive Officer, Mr Diallo Sumbry, forms part of broader efforts to strengthen cultural reconnection between Ghana and the African diaspora, particularly African Americans. It follows earlier engagements with the Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Hon. Abla Dzifa Gomashie, on promoting heritage tourism and diaspora collaboration.
During their visit, the delegation participated in guided cultural experiences at the memorial park, which honours Ghana’s first president and Pan-Africanist leader. The group is also expected to tour other historically significant sites, including Assin Manso and Cape Coast, where they will visit the former slave dungeons and the Last Bath Slave River.

Organisers say the initiative highlights ongoing partnerships aimed at deepening diaspora ties and positioning Ghana as a year-round destination for heritage and cultural tourism, beyond traditional peak seasons.
