As part of activities to marking its first anniversary, i-VickyMends Foundation has donated food items to about 65 widows in the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis.
The gesture was to show love to widows in the Month of Love.
i-VickyMends Foundation is a charity organisation which is committed to bringing positive changes in the lives of underprivileged and disadvantaged widows and putting smiles on their faces.
It provides hope and support to vulnerable widows and children.
The Foundation believes that children regardless of their social background deserve quality of life to grow up to be responsible citizens as well as widows deserving to be shown love and care in their affliction.
The 65 widows were selected within the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis and were given food items.

The Foundation said the gesture was because “we believe food parcel is a valuable lifeline when a family loses the breadwinner of the house to an accident, disease or even murder and this will at least lessen their burden for a week or two”.
With assistance from Life Relief Foundation, i-VickyMends Foundation organized free screening on HIV, Blood Pressure, Hepatitis B and common communicable diseases.
Founder of the Foundation Victoria Nana Amoh said: “We chose the month of February because it is the Month of Love and as people express love to their loved ones, these widows need to be shown the necessary love and affection”.
“We all know their spouses are no more and it’s a bit painful when you bear all responsibilities in the family so it is our way of showing affection towards them.”
She expressed the willingness of her charity organization to also organise skill training for the widows to enable them acquire some skills to be able to do something profitable for themselves.
“It’s a young foundation and we can’t do all these by ourselves. We need the help of stakeholders, religious bodies, philanthropists and individuals who have interest to assist us achieve more and also impact positively on people’s lives.”
