Ex-Subin MP Goes ‘Unpatriotic’, Wishes President Mahama Bombs – Despite Huge Public Support

A former Ghanaian MP has been branded ‘unpatriotic’ after astonishingly declaring he wants the current President to FAIL – even as a staggering 70% of the nation backs the government.

Eugene Boakye Antwi, the firebrand former Member of Parliament for Subin, shockingly admitted he hopes President John Dramani Mahama’s government crashes and burns, all so his own party, the New Patriotic Party (NPP), can snatch back power in the 2028 elections.

In an explosive interview on Channel One TV’s ‘Umaru Sanda Amadu’ on Tuesday, July 1st, Boakye Antwi made it clear he wasn’t wishing ill on Ghana itself. Oh no.

But he simply doesn’t believe the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) has the ‘competence’ to deliver on ANY of their grand promises.

“I want him [Mahama] to fail,” he brazenly stated. “I want my party to win the 2028 elections. I don’t want him to fail, as in fail. But I know that the NDC cannot do much in terms of what they promised.”

The ex-MP, clearly drawing from his own time in the corridors of power, hinted at the internal backstabbing that plagues governments, suggesting Mahama is doomed to face the same treacherous fate.

“I have been in government, and sometimes, as a president, your appointees will make sure that you fail,” he dramatically explained. “The kind of things I saw when we were in government are the same Ghanaians in the NDC, so it will be transferred across there.”

Boakye Antwi doubled down on his stunning lack of faith in the NDC’s financial prowess, openly admitting his desire for their economic performance to tank.

“I don’t want Mahama to succeed, as in succeeding, because I want my party [NPP] to win… In terms of the actual management of the economy, I don’t think the NDC has what it takes,” he sneered.

His controversial comments come just as a bombshell poll from Global InfoAnalytics reveals a tidal wave of public approval for the very government he hopes will crumble.

The survey shows a remarkable 70% of voters now believe Ghana is heading in the ‘right direction’, a significant jump from 62% in April. Only a measly 20% think the country is off track.

And it gets worse for the ex-MP’s gloomy predictions: a staggering 73% of voters APPROVE of President Mahama’s job performance. Even in the stronghold of the opposition NPP, a surprising 43% give him the thumbs up.

The government itself is riding high, with a combined 79% of voters rating its performance as ‘excellent’ or ‘very good/good’.

When it comes to the economy, 74% are backing Mahama’s handling, while 67% applaud his efforts in job creation. Even his fight against the illegal ‘galamsey’ mining menace gets a resounding 65% approval.

It seems while Mr. Boakye Antwi is busy wishing for failure, the vast majority of Ghanaians are cheering on their President’s success. Talk about being out of touch.
