Finance and Economic Planning Minister Dr Ato Baah Forson, has made light the boycott of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Members of Parliament (MPs) from the mid-year budget presentation.

According to the Minister, the NPP MPs left the chamber before his presentation because they have come to the realization that, a competent government is at the helm of affairs.

He said the minority is clearly aware that the government is one that is performing and so could not sit and listen to the gains that have been achieved so far.

On Thursday July 24, 2025.the Minister was in the house to do the budget reading for the remaining months of the year.

After painting what he said was an impressive picture of the economy, Dr Forson thanked President John Dramani Mahama, the Speaker Alban Bagbin, MPs and the parliamentary service.

“Mr. Speaker, I cannot conclude this address without expressing deep gratitude to His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama whose unwavering dedication and vision continue to anchor this national rest.

Mrs Speaker, on a personal level, I thank His Excellency the president for without him, this work couldn’t have been achieved. He is indeed the anchor of our economic rest. Right Honourable Speaker, and to you our father, Mr Speaker Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, our father, Members of Parliament and the Parliamentary Service I am extremely grateful”.

Then he turned to the empty seats saying “Indeed ‘Aban Papa Aba’ No Wonder my Broker Kwame and his team flew the chamber”.

The minority before the presentation of the statement announced their plans to walk out. The side based their decision on their concerns with violence that marred the Ablekuma North constituency rerun that saw Ewurabena Aubynn win the seat for the time since 1996.

It has been expressing it concern about the incident that saw some of the members inclosing a former MP and minister Mavis Hawa Koomson.

Their action is not the first time on that incident as on Tuesday they walked out in a similar fashion when the new MP was sworn-in by the speaker.

Through the Minority Chief Whip the group announced they were going to petition the president. Few minutes later, they were seen in buses at the presidency where they presented their petition to a deputy chief of staff, Stan Dogbe,

They continued to the office of the Diplomatic Corps, Coalition of Domestic Election Observers (CODEO) over the violence.
