South African musician Master KG has said it is amazing that his song ‘Jerusalem’ which featured Nomcebo is already approaching 100 million views on YouTube.
He told Giovani Caleb on the 3FM Drive that the last song he did before ‘Jerusalem’ had 23 million views and he never thought another song could surpass that.
He revealed that although he was expecting ‘Jerusalem’ to be a hit one, he never imagined that it could reach this magnitude across the world.
Master KG said on the show: “I wasn’t expecting this hit. Even though my last video also ended up getting 24 million views, I never thought actually I will have a song that will approach 100 million.
“But day by day this song is growing bigger and better, we are approaching 100 million already.”
Asked whether this is a gospel song, he said: “It is a combination of inspiration, a dance music with gospel flavor.”
Nomcedo, on her part, said she was privileged to have been part of this song that has caught global attention.
“I never knew I could be part of such a big song, so I thank God together with Master KG.
“There is a song that I did here in South Africa with DJ Kanayni, so it was a big song.
“After the song Master KG called me and said my voice was amazing, it was rich and so he would like to work with me. I went there to listen to his beats and the beats were amazing,” she said.
She also said the song is not an entirely gospel song.
