Tariq Lamptey says his heart was racing as he finally prepared to make his Chelsea debut in their 2-1 win over Arsenal in the English Premier League.
The teenager replaced Fikayo Tomori in a thrilling second half and says it was exactly the sort of day he had been looking forward to.
“My heart was racing,” he told Blues TV. “It was the moment me and my family have been waiting for ever since I joined the club at the age of 8.”
Lamptey said he was greatly boosted by the confidence reposed in him by Chelsea boss Frank Lampard and now hopes he gets many more opportunities.
“I have waited for a very long time for my debut and I am very grateful for the coach for giving me the chance and everyone who helped me,” said the 19 year old.
“I just felt I’m out here, don’t be afraid of anything just play my natural game and everything will come through it.”
The right back was born in England to Ghanaian parents and has represented them at U18 , U19 and U20 levels.
