Mrs. Lordina Dramani Mahama, former First Lady of Ghana, has extended warm wishes and heartfelt appreciation to all mothers and women across the country in celebration of Mother’s Day.
In a touching message, Mrs. Mahama acknowledged the pivotal role Ghanaian women play in shaping the nation, describing them as the “pillars of our homes and the heartbeat of our nation.” She praised their resilience, love, and sacrifices, noting that mothers are essential to nurturing strong families and building compassionate communities.
“Today is a time to reflect and honour the incredible strength, unwavering love, and daily sacrifices of mothers. Your efforts are the foundation of our homes and the driving force behind the progress of our society,” she said.
Mrs. Mahama also expressed solidarity with women facing daily challenges as they work to secure better lives for their families, emphasizing that national development is closely tied to the well-being of households and children.
She reaffirmed the commitment of her husband, H.E. John Dramani Mahama, to economic recovery and inclusive growth. According to her, the former president remains dedicated to revitalizing Ghana’s economy, expanding job opportunities for the youth, and positioning the country as a prime destination for both local and foreign investment.
“My husband and I share a deep belief in creating an environment where every Ghanaian family can thrive,” she stated.
Highlighting her personal commitment to women’s empowerment, Mrs. Mahama reiterated the efforts of the Lordina Foundation, which continues to provide skills training, economic support, and healthcare assistance to women, children, and vulnerable populations—including individuals living with HIV/AIDS.
A key focus of the Foundation, she noted, is improving healthcare for mothers and children by supporting the development of modern, well-equipped maternity and pediatric wards across hospitals in Ghana.
“Ensuring quality healthcare for mothers during pregnancy and childbirth, and for our children, is a cause very close to my heart. I remain committed to advancing this mission,” she affirmed.
As she concluded her message, Mrs. Mahama extended her blessings and gratitude to all mothers: “Your strength, love, and sacrifices do not go unnoticed. You are deeply appreciated by your families, communities, and the entire nation. May this day bring you joy, peace, and the love you so richly deserve.”
Happy Mother’s Day to all the phenomenal women and mothers of Ghana.
