The Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Dr Dominic Akuritinga Ayine, has disclosed that the founder and leader of Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG), Percyval Kofi Akpaloo, is under investigations for misrepresentation and forgery over the receipt of GH¢3.1 million from Ghana Cocoa Board (Cocobod) between 2022 and 2024.
Addressing the press in Accra on Monday, December 22, Dr Ayine said Mr Kofi Akpaloo deposit the money in a First Bank Ghana Limited account for a forged company.
The Attorney General explained that Pomaa Universal Ghana Ltd had won a contract in December, 2020 to construct feeder roads for Cocobod.
The company is owned by one Akua Pomaa, the Minister indicated.
However, the two-time Presidential Candidate incorporated another company, Pomaah Universal Ghana Ltd, receiving eight cheques from Cocobod between December, 2022 and June, 2024.
“Our investigations revealed that Akpaloo secretly incorporated another company, separate and distinct from Pomaa Universal Ghana Ltd, also known as Pomaah Universal Ghana Ltd, but deliberately added ‘h’ to the Pomaa.
“After having done this, between December 2022 and June 2024, Akpaloo collected eight cheques issued by Cocobod in the name of Pomaa Universal Ghana Ltd, totalling GH¢3.1m and deposited them in the account of his own company at First Bank Gh. Ltd.”
The AG, who is also the Member of Parliament for Bolgatanga East Constituency, also gave an update on the case against New Patriotic Party (NPP) Ashanti Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, populrly known as Chairman Wontumi.
