President John Dramani Mahama has dismissed all seven petitions brought against the Chair of the Electoral Commission, Ghana (EC) and her deputies as well as three against the Special Prosecutor.
This follows a letter from the Chief Justice, Paul Baffoe-Bonnie, to President Mahama on Monday, January 26 that no prima face case was found.
As a result, the petitions, according to the Chief Justice, do not warrant any further investigations for the removal of the EC, her deputies and the Special Prosecutor.
A communication from the Presidency said the decision to dismiss the petitions follows an action taken by President Mahama in accordance with Article 146 of the 1992 Constitution and Section 15 of the Office of the Special Prosecutor Act, 2017, (Act 959).
The President had referred the petitions to the Chief Justice on Tuesday, November 25, 2025 “to determine whether the petitions disclose a prima facie case”.
