President John Dramani Mahama will embark on an official visit to France at the invitation of President Emmanuel Macron.
According to the Presidency, President Mahama will attend the 2026 One Health Summit in Lvon while in France.
He is expected to co-chair a high-level segment of the One Health Summit with President Macron.
The Summit convenes world leaders, health ministers, and global health experts to discuss pressing issues related to global health systems, sustainable food production, and joint strategies to address health challenges.
The President will also deliver two keynote addresses, the first during a meeting on a Global Health Architecture, which will be co-chaired by President Macron and Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus of the World Health Organisation. Participants will discuss reforms to global health initiatives and endorse a Political Declaration on strengthening international health cooperation.
The second keynote will be delivered at the start of the high-level segment for heads of state and government, where the President will detail Ghana’s commitments and views on global health security.
He is expected to hold bilateral talks with President Macron at the Élysée Palace in Paris on Wednesday, after the Summit.
The discussions between the two leaders will centre on strengthening Ghana-France bilateral relations and exploring cooperation in areas of mutual interest, including health, education, trade, investment, and regional security.
Before the meeting at the Élysée Palace, President Mahama will be received by His Excellency Gérard Larcher, President of the French Senate, at the Senate House.
President Mahama will return to Accra shortly after the Élysée Palace meeting.
