A non-denominational Thanksgiving Service is scheduled to be held on Wednesday, January 7 to mark the first year of the second term of President John Dramani Mahama.
The Service will be held at the forecourt of the Jubilee House, Kanda-Accra.
It is expected to attract government officials, members of the clergy and family and friends of the first couple as well as National Democratic Congress (NDC) party faithfuls.
The day will mark exactly one year since Mr Mahama’s swearing-in as President of the Republic of Ghana after winning the December 7, 2024 elections.
He took over from Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, having ceded power to him eight years earlier.
President Mahama had beaten then Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia in the highly-contested elections.
The day will also mark Constitution Day but President Mahama has moved the public holiday to Friday, January 9 by an Executive Instrument.
