The Minister of Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, has directed the Director-General of the Ghana Health Service to ensure the enforcement of strict day and night security measures across all health facilities nationwide.
“Health facility administrators are required to review and strengthen their internal security protocols without delay,” a statement issued on Wednesday, February 18 said.
This comes after a middle-aged woman was arrested for a baby theft at the Mamprobi Polyclinic.
This has raised concerns among the public about security at the country’s medical facilities.
The statement stressed that the Minister reiterated government’s earlier directive requiring all health facilities across the country to ensure the installation and proper functioning of CCTV surveillance systems.
The Ministry reassured the public about government’s commitment in safeguarding patients and ensuring accountability within the health sector.
“The Ministry of Health calls for calm while the investigation is ongoing.”
