Mike Tyson has named Sonny Liston as the scariest man to ever step into the boxing ring.

On The Big Podcast with Shaq, Tyson was asked to name boxing’s scariest fighter. Many might’ve expected him to say it himself. But he didn’t. Instead, he said, as quoted by talkSPORT:
“Listen, Sonny Liston is the scariest fighter that ever lived.”
He told a chilling story.
“Sonny Liston would come to a town, say St. Louis to Chicago, the cops would be like, ‘Listen, you can’t come.’ He knocked out four cops, broke their jaws, took their gun. They were beating him with nightsticks over the head…”
Then Tyson added:
“There’s no fighter like Sonny Liston. Sonny Liston’s a monster.”
Who is Sonny Liston?
Liston made his pro debut in 1953 in a brutal bout against Don Smith. Smith left the ring with a badly cut eye. That was just the beginning.
In 1962, Liston became world heavyweight champion after demolishing Floyd Patterson in the first round. It was quick. It was ruthless. Liston finished his career with a record of 50 wins and just four losses.
