The Minority in Parliament is demanding an immediate ministerial reshuffle by President John Dramani Mahama over failure of some ministers to do their work.
Speaking on the floor of Parliament on Tuesday, Minority Chief Whip Frank Annoh-Dompreh expressed concern that a number ministers, particularly the Minister in charge of Public Sector Reforms, have failed to appear before the House to answer some questions.
The Nsawam-Adoagyiri Member of Parliament cited how the Minister of Food and Agriculture, Eric Opoku, despite having been “dutiful” in the past, also wrote to the front bench to seek permission to be absent to answer a question.
“The President must be watching,” Mr Annoh-Dompreh indicated. “The first reshuffle must happen.”
He cited colleague MPs in the Majority side such as Alfred Oko Vanderpuije, Francis-Xavier Sosu and Ibrahim Zuwera as ready to occupy ministerial positions if the current crop cannot do the work.
“The first reshuffle must happen. Leader, tell the President the ministers who are not ready to do public business the President must reshuffle them.”
