Chief Executive Officer of Menzgold Ghana Limited Nana Appiah Mensah has appealed to the state to unfreeze his bank accounts and those of his firms in order to start doing business to settle aggrieved customers.
NAM1, as he is popularly known, claims if the accounts are unfrozen, Menzgold will get productive and will meet all its liabilities including paying back customers their investments.
“As of now, Brew Marketing Consult, Menzgold and I cannot credit or debit any bank account in Ghana,” he complained at a press conference in Accra.
“This is why it is highly imperative to consider this kind request as I believe government shares in our resolve and will do all that which is needful in our quest to satisfy the populace who are our customers.”
Earlier this year, the Economic and Organised Crime Office secured a court order to freeze all bank accounts of Menzgold Ghana Limited as well as its CEO.
This followed his arrest and subsequent trial in the United Arab Emirates.
NAM1 told journalists even in Dubai, he was wrongfully prosecuted as the firm that sued him was rather chasing another Ghanaian gold dealership firm, Just Gold, that had duped it.
No wonder, he claimed, he immediately returned to Ghana after he was acquitted and discharged.
Mr Appiah Mensah, therefore, served notice about his commitment and asked for government support to pay back monies owed customers “as soon as we can with the given opportunity”.
