The National Council of Parent-Teacher Associations (NCPTAs), in a release dated July 17, 2025, and signed by its General Secretary, Gapson Kofi Raphael, has expressed its heartfelt appreciation to the President of the Republic, H.E. John Dramani Mahama, for his timely and progressive directive which has led to the full reinstatement of Parent-Teacher Associations (PTAs) in all pre-tertiary schools across the country.
The Association further commended the Ghana Education Service (GES) for its swift action in operationalizing this directive and instructing heads of institutions to immediately implement the reactivation of PTAs nationwide.
The policy, according to the NCPTAs, acknowledges the critical role PTAs have played over the years in supporting the delivery of quality education, infrastructure development, and community involvement in Ghana’s education sector.
“The National PTA Council wishes to assure the general public, parents, and stakeholders that it is committed to ensuring the effective and transparent functioning of PTAs across all institutions. We remain firmly against any form of institutional manipulation or micro-management that undermines the independence of parental voice in education and the collaborative nature of PTAs in Ghana,” they highlighted.
Going forward, the Council will work closely with the GES and school authorities to ensure that PTA activities are aligned with best practices, guided by sound financial accountability frameworks, and focused solely on the welfare and educational success of the Ghanaian child.
“We call on all parents, teachers, and school management teams to embrace this renewed mandate and work together in unity to achieve the common goal of enhancing Ghana’s educational outcomes,” the Association stated.
