Nine suspects have been remanded into prison custody over an alleged assault on police officers in Obuasi as captured in a viral video.
The officers were said to be on duty at Tweapease Senior High School Park, where they were attacked by the suspects together with others.
The police immediately launched investigations into the incident, leading to the arrest of the nine.
They are Joshua Frimpong, also known as Joey B, Bannor Williams, Isaac Dwumfour, also known as Sporty, Evans Bannor, also known as Pressure King, Asiedu Ronald, also known as Case Close, Sarfo Alex, also known as Okele, and Yaw Alex.
The rest are Obidiaba Desmond and Agyemang Emmanuel.
They were put before the Obuasi Circuit Court on Thursday, January 8 on charges of assault on public officers.
The police have warned that persons who attack officers “will be pursued and arrested to face the full rigours of the law”.
