Former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has emerged as a clear favourite to be elected NPP Flagbearer by the party’s delegates in January, a poll conducted by respected research group, the Africa Policy Lens (APL) has revealed.
According to the study, which surveyed 30,681 NPP delegates across all 16 regions, Dr. Bawumia is overwhelmingly favoured by 63.8% of respondents as their preferred candidate to lead the NPP into the 2028 Presidential Elections.
Following at second place is Kennedy Agyapong, who received 28.9% support.
Other candidates include Dr. Bryan Acheampong, who obtained third with a low 4.6%, Yaw Osei Adutwum at fourth with 1.5%, and Kwabena Agyepong with 1.2%.
The data also indicates that Dr. Bawumia is leading in 14 out of the 16 regions, with Hon. Ken Agyapong leading in two regions – Central and Western North Regions, respectively.
The latest result by APL affirm recent polls by other agencies, including the Global Info Analytics, which has consistently placed Dr. Bawumia as the favourite to win the NPP primaries, scheduled for January 31, 2026.
