The Director-General of the National Service Authority (NSA), Ruth Dela Seddoh, is concerned some ill-intentioned persons continue to attempt to infiltrate the National Service Scheme (NSS) with ghost names.
She, however, assured that these criminal activities will be stopped and the perpetrators brought to book.
Madam Dela Seddoh noted that this came to light after an operation conducted by the Authority.
“The operation has successfully identified and addressed significant irregularities,” she told the press on Monday, December15.
“Cartels continue to attempt infiltration with ghost names, but we are determined to crack down and end this practice.”
She announced that serious irregularities were discovered in three public tertiary institutions.
“Ten members of staff have been arrested and are under investigation by the security agencies,” she announced, adding that some NSA staff have also been picked up to assist the investigations.
From the operation, over 8,000 individuals were discoveredto have enteredthe system wrongfully with 1,840 suspended “pending further investigations by the security agencies”.
