The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has revealed in court that an extradition process has begun for two of the seven accused in the case on the contract between the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) and Strategic Mobilisation Limited (SML) Ghana.
Representatives of the OSP told the Criminal Division of the High Court that the extradition process began on Wednesday, November 19.
The process seeks the return and apprehension of not only former Minister of Finance Ken Ofori-Atta but also Ernest Darko Akore, who was an Advisor at the Ministry of Finance.
Both are said to be in the US.
The trial of Mr Ofori-Atta and seven others began on Thursday, December 11.
The case was, however, adjourned to Wednesday, December 17.
The Court granted all bar Mr Ofori-Atta and Mr Darko Akore bail conditions of GH¢50 million with two sureties each to be justified.
All the accused including two former Commissioners-General of GRA have been charged with a total of 78 counts of corruption and corruption-related offences.
