Head Coach of the Black Stars Otto Addo has showered praise on Ao Tanaka for his gesture after the leg injury to midfielder Francis Abu.
Tanaka’s tackle in the second half led to the excruciating injury to the Toulouse player.
He was immediately transported to the Toyota Memorial Hospital for emergency care.
At the post-match press conference, Otto Addo praised the Leeds United player for apologising not only to the Ghanaian players for the incident but to him as the coach.
“We really appreciate the player and you can see in general he was very nice [and] all the Japanese people are very polite. We had a good time here.
“And it’s not a normal thing that we really appreciate the player not only comes to our player to say sorry for what happened but also comes to me as a coach. We don’t take it for granted. this kind of behaviour I think it is a very good education in Japan.”
Abu is said to be in a stable condition and an appropriate management plan has been agreed between the medical teams of the Black Stars and Toulouse on his recovery.
He is expected to undergo surgery.
