Hulled By OSP Over Shady Revenue Deal.
The dragnet of the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has once again swept across the corridors of power, this time ensnaring prominent media personality and former board chairman of the Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL), Paul Adom-Otchere.
He was summoned to the OSP’s South Ridge offices in Accra today, Thursday, July 31, 2025, to face tough questions regarding an alleged corrupt revenue assurance contract.
According to an official invitation dated July 25, 2025, the anti-graft body has labeled Adom-Otchere as a suspect in an ongoing investigation into alleged corruption and related offenses.
The probe zeroes in on a contentious contract between his former office and a private firm owned by Evans Adusei, the CEO of the controversial Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Limited (SML).
The OSP is reportedly digging deep into potential irregularities in the financial arrangements and execution of this deal, particularly how airport revenues were managed or accounted for under the agreement.
SML: A Familiar Face to OSP Probes
This isn’t SML’s first dance with the OSP. The company, which specializes in revenue assurance and auditing for Ghana’s petroleum and minerals sectors, is already under the OSP’s microscope concerning its contract with the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA).
That particular investigation even demands the elusive presence of former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta, who is rumored to be chilling in the United States.
SML, established in 2018, is a Ghanaian-owned tech firm, but its business dealings continue to raise eyebrows.
True to form, the outspoken Adom-Otchere isn’t going down without a fight. Speaking on Joy FM’s Newsnite on Monday, July 28, he vehemently dismissed the OSP’s invitation as an act of “witch-hunting.”
He insisted that the issues under investigation are purely “management-level issues” and have nothing to do with his former role as board chairman.
“My initial reaction would be that there’s a witch-hunt. I just hope that I’m wrong because the issues that are being investigated are purely management issues. It’s not really a Board chairman issue,” he declared.
While confirming receipt of the OSP’s summons, the seasoned Metro TV host cited the unavailability of his legal team due to prior court engagements in Kumasi as the reason for any potential delay in his appearance.
This isn’t the first time Paul Adom-Otchere has found himself in hot water. During his tenure as GACL board chair, he was famously accused of blowing GH¢128,366 of taxpayer money on extravagant Christmas tree decorations in 2021.
That scandal erupted after an Auditor General’s report, leading to a referral to the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ). While CHRAJ partially cleared him, he was indeed found to have abused his office in some aspects.
The nation watches with bated breath as the OSP continues its relentless pursuit of accountability. Will Adom-Otchere successfully clear his name, or will this latest probe add another stain to his already controversial public record?
