Director of Communications for United Party, Solomon Owusu has alleged that a recently signed “peace pact” between NPP presidential aspirants was intended to manipulate upcoming elections to former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
Speaking on Prime Insight, Solomon stated that the agreement effectively binds signatories from 2026 to 2028, compelling them to accept election outcomes irrespective of irregularities. He argued that the conditions of the pact leave no room for dissent.
“They say no matter what happens, you have to accept. Is that how you build a political party?”
Dr. Stephen Amoah, a member of Kennedy Agyapong campaign team, responded that the peace pact exists on paper, adding that “peace is a product that is not a raw material.”
Solomon argued that the Jan 31, 2026 NPP presidential elections must be transparency and safeguarded to ensure free and fair elections, warning that agreements undermining democratic processes could erode trust in Ghana’s political system.
