The Ashanti Regional Police Command has arrested four suspected armed robbers in connection with a robbery incident that occurred at Kunsu in December last year, police said on Tuesday.
The suspects were arrested on January 21, 2026, at about 10:00 p.m. following intelligence-led operations by the Regional Anti-Robbery Unit in Kumasi, working with officers from the Surveillance Unit of the National Operations Directorate at Police Headquarters in Accra.
Police identified the suspects as Yahaya Siedu, 34, also known as “Diamond”; Atta Israel, 32, alias “Abode3” or “Stone”; Victor Gyan, 26, known as “City Boy”; and Stanley Wiafe Akanten, 30, alias “Figo”. Investigators believe the four are members of a criminal syndicate linked to a series of robberies in Kunsu and nearby communities.

A search conducted in the room of Yahaya Siedu led to the recovery of two pump-action guns, three cutlasses, five mobile phones, 22 BB cartridges and cash amounting to GH¢5,400, police said. One of the firearms, a Pardus shotgun, was confirmed to have been stolen during the December 7 robbery along the Kunsu–Mankranso road.
Police said the suspects have admitted conspiring to rob miners of cash, gold concentrate and other valuables. They are currently in custody assisting investigations.
The Ashanti Regional Police Command reiterated its commitment to maintaining peace, safety and security across the region.
