The Central Regional Police Command has arrested seven suspects in an intelligence-led swoop targeting narcotic drug peddling and related criminal activities within the Cape Coast Metropolis.
The arrests were made on Saturday, Dec. 13, 2025, as part of a coordinated operation aimed at clamping down on the sale and use of prohibited drugs in identified hotspots across the metropolis. The suspects were identified as Robert Kobbina, Abu Issifu, Janet Mensah, Emmanuel Quarshie, Osei Boateng, Animful Emmanuel and Charity Nkrumah.
Police first raided a known narcotic drug base at Effutu, where Kobbina and Issifu were arrested. A search conducted on Kobbina led to the retrieval of assorted substances suspected to be narcotic drugs, including sachets and tablets of timaking, Tdrona and royal fart, as well as dried leaves believed to be Indian hemp. Officers also retrieved tobacco products, lighters and several packs of assorted cigarettes from the scene.

Following the initial arrests, the operation was extended to Poly Amisano and Nkanfoa, both identified by police as active drug peddling locations. At Poly Amisano, officers arrested five additional suspects — Mensah, Quarshie, Boateng, Emmanuel and Nkrumah.
A search conducted at a drinking spot operated by Mensah led to the retrieval of large quantities of cigarettes, tobacco products and lighters, along with three jackpot gaming machines believed to be operating illegally. Police later retrieved an additional four jackpot machines from Nkanfoa during the continued operation.

The police said all seven suspects are currently in custody and assisting with investigations, adding that further action will be taken as inquiries progress.
The Central Regional Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to intensifying operations against drug-related crimes and urged residents to support law enforcement efforts by providing timely information to help keep communities safe.
