The Ghana Police Service has arrested two suspects in connection with the physical abuse of an 11-year-old girl, following the circulation of a viral video showing the incident.
The arrests were made by the IGP’s Special Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team, which swiftly traced the case to Agona Jamasi. Suspect Grace Mensah was apprehended first, followed by Godfred Osei Akoto, the man seen assaulting the child in the video.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the incident occurred on December 6, 2025, after the victim reportedly went out and failed to return home. Godfred Osei Akoto reportedly told police he acted with the alleged authorization of the child’s grandmother.
The young girl has since been rescued and is receiving care. Both suspects have been handed over to the Mampong Regional Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit for further investigations.
The Ghana Police Service reaffirmed its commitment to protecting children and dealing decisively with all forms of abuse, urging the public to remain vigilant and report any suspected cases of child maltreatment.
The statement was signed by Chief Inspector Brigitte Babanawo, Public Relations Officer, Criminal Investigation Department (CID)
