The Ghana Police Service has recovered a stolen vehicle and several personal items following an intelligence-led investigation into a residential robbery.
On 4th December 2025, armed assailants attacked a woman in her room, stealing her Toyota Hilux pick-up, an iPhone 16 Pro Max, and other belongings. Following sustained intelligence gathering, officers traced a suspect, identified as Clement Kofi Aidoo, also known as Joseph Abequaye, Yaw, and Paddy.
During an attempted arrest, the suspect allegedly attacked police officers and was shot. He was rushed to the Police Hospital for treatment but was pronounced dead while receiving medical attention. Authorities retrieved the stolen Toyota Hilux, the complainant’s phone, and several documents from the suspect.
Further investigations revealed that in November 2025, the same suspect had absconded with a Toyota Camry belonging to a police officer, whom he had been hired to assist through a recruitment agency. The vehicle was later recovered in the Central Region after the suspect abandoned it during a police pursuit.
The Ghana Police Service has reaffirmed its commitment to dismantling criminal networks, recovering stolen property, and ensuring that individuals involved in violent offences are held accountable.
Chief Inspector Brigitte Babanawo, Public Relations Officer of the Criminal Investigation Department, urged the public to continue reporting criminal activities to aid police operations.
