Two men have been sentenced to 17 years in prison each for a violent robbery committed at Agbazo near the Golden Exotic Farm in Accra, according to a statement issued by the Accra Regional Police Command.
The convicts, Lawrence Fumato, also known as Rasta, 28, and Daniel Dzoka, alias Alkaline, 20, were found guilty by the Amasaman Circuit Court after admitting to robbing two victims on November 12, 2025. Prosecutors told the court the pair attacked the victims with a pair of scissors and stole multiple items, including a Royal 150 motorbike, a Samsung phone, a Tecno Spark 8, an Itel keypad phone, and GHS 4,000 in cash.
Police said the arrests followed an intelligence-led operation that led officers to the suspects at Agbazo on November 17, 2025. After investigations, both men were charged with Conspiracy to Commit Robbery and Robbery, offenses under Sections 23(1) and 149 of the Criminal Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29).
They were arraigned on November 27, 2025, and pleaded guilty to all counts. The court subsequently imposed a 17-year custodial sentence on each convict, with both sentences to run concurrently.
The Accra Regional Police Command praised residents for their cooperation, emphasizing that community support was crucial in securing the arrests and convictions.
The Command encouraged the public to continue reporting criminal activity through emergency lines 18555 and 191.
