Member of Parliament (MP) for South Dayi, Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor, has suggested that the police should question Professor Frimpong-Boateng, the former Minister of Science, Environment, Technology and Innovation, regarding claims he made in his galamsey report.

According to the MP, following several denials from persons named in the 37-paged report, it is relevant the CID division of the Police Service invites him for further probe.

Mr. Dafeamekpor’s remarks come after Prof. Frimpong Boateng who was the chairman of the inter-ministerial committee on illegal mining (IMCIM) accused several government officials of engaging in or being complicit in the fight against galamsey.

Since the report came into the public domain many of the officials cited in the report have discredited it while the presidency has described it as personal grievances authored by the former minister.

“Professor Kwabena Frimpong-Boateng should be invited to speak to the document. Government has sort of watered down the document claiming that it’s not official and all that, so he has to be invited. In any case, he has to be heard,” he said in an interview with Bernard Avle on Citi TV.

The MP also remarked that any member of the National Democratic Congress who is cited in the report and found culpable should be investigated.

“If anybody in my party is found to be culpable why not? They should be investigated.”

Meanwhile, Mr. Dafeamekpor has already petitioned CHRAJ to look into the said report.
