Ghanaian musician Edem, says an attempt to guide Agbeko into rehabilitation failed Monday despite what he described as exhaustive efforts by his team and medical professionals.
In a statement, Edem said he felt “deep disappointment” after spending the entire day with Agbeko in an effort to set him “on a new path.” He recounted accompanying him from a salon to an eatery before heading to the Pantang health facility for treatment.

According to Edem, the team spent an additional four hours at the facility as health workers prepared to admit Agbeko into a rehabilitation program. Agbeko, however, refused to enter, declining help even under “professional effort and guidance,” Edem said.
The musician thanked supporters and the VRMG team for their involvement, adding that every possible step had been taken to encourage Agbeko to accept assistance.
“We did everything we could,” Edem wrote.
Background:
Concerns over Agbeko’s wellbeing intensified after a video posted October 28 by DJ Bridash showed the embattled rapper approaching Hitz FM presenter Andy Dosty on a roadside to ask for money. The footage, in which Agbeko appeared disheveled, captured him saying he needed cash to buy “some items.”
According to reports, Andy Dosty refused to hand over money, fearing it would feed the addiction that has long derailed Agbeko’s career. Instead, he offered to buy him food — a gesture Agbeko initially resisted before eventually accepting.
The viral video prompted fellow musician Edem to intervene, hoping to help Agbeko confront his addiction and regain stability. But after Agbeko refused admission to a rehabilitation program at Pantang this week, Edem said the road ahead remains unclear.
