President John Dramani Mahama, Commander-in-Chief of the Ghana Armed Forces, has appointed Brigadier General Glover Ashong Annan as Commissioner of the Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority.
According to a statement issued Sunday, the presidency said Brigadier General Annan, a senior officer of the Ghana Army, is widely regarded as disciplined, principled and dedicated, and is expected to lead reforms within the Customs Division while helping the authority meet revenue targets as part of broader economic recovery efforts.
Until his new role, Annan served as Presidential Security Coordinator, where he oversaw strategic security operations for the presidency. Officials expressed confidence that his leadership and operational experience would strengthen institutional performance and enhance efficiency within customs administration.
The President also thanked the outgoing commissioner, Brigadier General Ziblim Ayorrogo, for his service and contributions to the division and the country.
The announcement was signed by Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Spokesperson to the President and Minister for Government Communications, who said the appointment forms part of ongoing efforts to improve revenue mobilisation and reinforce public sector leadership.
