Wizkid has offered an explanation on why he failed to perform at an Accra live concert on Saturday night where he was billed to headline. He said his no-show was due to “safety and production issues.”
The superstar had left concertgoers frustrated and enraged after failing to show up after they had paid top cedi to see him perform and waited for 12 hours.
Much flak has been directed at him by fans online in the aftermath.
But in an apology Sunday evening, Wizkid explained that he had prepared to perform at the concert but “up until the day of this show, there continued to be safety and production issues that prevented me from putting on a high quality show that my fans deserve.”
The Grammy award winner assured that Ghanaian fans remained dear to him.
“Ghana is a country I hold so dear to my heart, first and foremost I wanna apologise to all my fans! Y’all know I would never do anything, without a serious reasoning behind it.”
He however hinted that he would organise another show for his fans in the West African country soon.
“My Team and Myself are working on delivering a show to my amazing fans in Ghana. It will be just us, me and you. Date and details soon. Love you.”
The concert organisers, Live Hub, had earlier released a statement apologising to fans stating that a refund will be made. They also alleged that Wizkid had breached contract.
