The Member of Parliament (MP) for Akuapem North, Sammi Awuku, on Friday, May 2, 2025, commissioned a newly renovated Dialysis Centre at the Tetteh Quarshie Memorial Hospital in the Eastern Region, marking what he described as a, “new dawn for healthcare” in the constituency.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, the MP, expressed heartfelt satisfaction at the completion of the project, which he said would significantly ease access to critical care for patients suffering from kidney-related conditions.

“Today, my heart is full,” Mr Awuku declared. “We commissioned the newly renovated Dialysis Centre at the Tetteh Quarshie Memorial Hospital, and with it, we’ve ushered in a new dawn for healthcare in our beloved Akuapem North constituency.”

He noted that, the project reflected the community’s shared dedication to improving lives and enhancing healthcare delivery.

“This project is a true reflection of our collective commitment to saving lives and bringing quality healthcare closer to the people—without having to cross long distances to treat kidney cases,” he said.

Mr Awuku, added that quality healthcare was a major campaign promise and was pleased to see that promise materialising.

“Quality healthcare was a key promise in my manifesto, and I am glad we are able to turn words into actions, one project at a time,” he stated.

He expressed gratitude to the Speaker of Parliament, Rt Hon Alban S.K. Bagbin, who not only graced the occasion with his presence, but also made a personal donation toward the completion of the facility.

“I am deeply grateful to the Speaker of Parliament, Alban S.K. Bagbin, for not only joining us for this special occasion but also for his generous donation toward the project,” he said.

Mr Awuku, also thanked traditional authorities, constituents, and key partners who contributed to the success of the renovation.

“To our revered chiefs, the good people of Akuapem North, and all who contributed—you have played a part in something truly meaningful,” he said. “Special appreciation to SHEILD Ghana for leading this effort with passion, and to Enterprise Group PLC for standing with us to make it happen.”

He added, “This is what progress looks like, and steadily, we will continue to build Okuapeman.”

The following day, Saturday, May 3, 2025, Mr Awuku, turned his attention to education, spending the day with the constituency’s Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) candidates.

Describing it as a, “heartwarming day,” the MP encouraged the students to approach the exams with confidence and determination.

“As always, I donated mathematical sets to support their journey because the little things go a long way, and every great future deserves the right tools and a little extra motivation,” he said.

He urged the candidates to put their best foot forward and make Akuapem North proud.
“Go get it and make Okuapeman proud. You’ve got this!” he told the students.
