Sex in marriage is a responsibility like paying bills – Rabbi Odame-Ansa

Sex in marriage should be treated as a responsibility just like paying bills, Rabbi Odame-Ansa has said on Joy Prime’s relationship talk show, Let’s Talk, hosted by Aseiduwaa.

Tuesday’s episode focused on a couple struggling with sexual dissatisfaction which led to both partners becoming addicted to masturbation and reliant on sex toys.

Rev Odame-Ansa stressed the importance of sexual intimacy in marriage, describing it as a form of communication that reflects love and respect between partners. “Sex is supposed to be like the way you make payments for bills, because making payments for your bills is your responsibility,” he stated.

He advised that couples should engage in sexual activity regularly to strengthen their bond. “As a couple, you should have sex at least four times a week,” he said, adding that sexual intimacy improves communication and emotional connection within a marriage.

Touching on masturbation, Rev Odame-Ansa described it as a spiritual issue that begins in the mind through lust and mental imagery. “You create a picture of yourself either with your girlfriend or boyfriend having sex in your mind and it gives some sort of pleasure,” he explained, warning that “pulling or pushing of your penis as a man loses its elasticity.”

He encouraged couples to explore different aspects of their sexuality while they are young, noting that ageing can affect one’s sexual activity. “When you get old, the generator goes off and there is no light down there,” he remarked, adding that it is important to experience sexual variety before it becomes physically difficult in later years.

Rev Odame-Ansa recommended natural remedies such as garlic for men facing sexual challenges and insisted that the male sexual organ does not “die” unless the individual is physically dead. He urged men to understand their wives’ hormonal changes and learn how to sexually satisfy them. “You need to know how to satisfy her so she doesn’t use sex toys, and it is easy to give your wife an orgasm without penetration,” he noted.

The conversation also touched on spiritual consequences, with Rev Odame-Ansa warning that uncontrolled sexual desires and unbiblical sexual acts could lead to sin. “Anything you do sexually which is not biblical can lead to you going to hell,” he warned.

He further shared a personal experience, cautioning parents to be vigilant about their children’s interactions with house helps. According to him, some maids introduce children to sexual activity without the knowledge of their employers. “As parents, open your eyes, because my mum never knew her maid had introduced me to sexual activities,” he revealed.

Rev Odame-Ansa concluded by advising couples to control their emotions, avoid triggers that lead to masturbation, and seek spiritual guidance through prayer. “They should pray, motivate themselves, and stay away from anything or place that gives them access to sex toys or the urge to masturbate,” he said.

Let’s Talk airs every Tuesday at 9pm on Joy Prime, offering healing, comfort and peace of mind to the burdened and heartbroken.
