Vice President Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang has paid glowing tributes to former First Lady Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings following her sudden demise on Thursday, October 23.
In a terse statement on Friday, October 24, Vice President Opoku-Agyemang said the former First Lady will be remembered for her service to the nation.
“We mourn the passing of our former first lady, H.E. Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings,” she stated.
“She was a true icon and will be remembered for her service to Ghana.”
The Vice President expressed “my deepest condolences” to the surviving children and family.
“I wish her peaceful rest,” concluded her statement.
After the sad incident, the government led by President John Dramani Mahama has declared three days of national mourning, starting Friday, October 24.
During this period, all national flags shall fly at half-mast at all public buildings, diplomatic missions, and government installations throughout the country and abroad.
