By Paul Mamattah

The Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT), has officially inaugurated its 52nd operational branch, located at Takyi Plaza in Spintex Road, within the Greater Accra Region.

This strategic expansion aims to bring SSNIT’s services closer to clients in the Spintex enclave, enhancing accessibility and convenience in line with the Trust’s broader mission to improve service delivery across the country.

The new branch, is expected to serve residents and businesses in the rapidly growing Spintex enclave, reinforcing SSNIT’s commitment to making social security services more accessible to all Ghanaians.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, the Director-General of SSNIT, Kwesi Afreh Biney, emphasized the significance of this milestone, which aims to better serve the growing urban industrial hub that Spintex has become.

He stressed the importance of establishing branches that are not only easily accessible but also staffed with skilled professionals to ensure efficient service delivery.

Mr Biney, noted that the new Spintex branch of SSNIT’s location is strategically positioned to support the area’s vibrant community, which has seen a surge in business activity and population growth, adding that the launch of the Spintex branch is particularly beneficial for pensioners and self-employed individuals, a key demographic in the region.

Mr Biney pointed out that SSNIT is dedicated to expanding its services and creating more accessible touchpoints for its members, as part of a broader strategy to enhance service delivery and convenience.

He explained that this initiative reflects SSNIT’s ongoing efforts to improve accessibility and meet the needs of the communities it serves.

The SSNIT Director-General announced plans to launch the Trust’s first virtual branch later this year saying the initiative forms part of a broader strategy to improve service accessibility and convenience for all members.

According to Mr.Biney, the virtual branch will offer 24-hour access to the full range of SSNIT services, making it especially beneficial for individuals in the informal sector, gig economy, or those with demanding schedules stressing that the digital platform will enable members to engage with SSNIT anytime, from anywhere.

He emphasized that while physical branches remain crucial, expanding through traditional means alone poses challenges, given the over 200 district capitals in Ghana compared to SSNIT’s current 52 branches.

To address this, SSNIT is also exploring strategic partnerships with selected banks to serve as service points, allowing members to access SSNIT services at partner banking locations.

Mr Biney, reiterated the Trust’s commitment to leveraging technology and partnerships to bring services closer to the public, stating that the virtual branch represents a major step forward in the organisation’s ongoing digital transformation.
