The Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Dr Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, has engaged the Ministry’s Advisory Board and senior female editors in a bid to strengthen collaboration and advance the Ministry’s core mandate.
The engagements, held separately, marked the Minister’s second interaction this year with female senior editors and provided a platform to review progress, share priorities and chart a course for 2026. Meeting with the Advisory Board, Dr Lartey underscored the importance of frank feedback and shared responsibility, noting that the Board’s guidance remains critical to informed decision-making and effective policy implementation.
She reviewed key achievements of the Ministry, assessed the status of ongoing interventions and outlined plans aimed at consolidating gains in gender equality, child protection and social protection programmes in the coming year.
In her engagement with female senior editors, the Minister highlighted updates on the Ministry’s work to advance the rights and welfare of women, children, persons with disabilities and other vulnerable groups. She reaffirmed government’s commitment to empowerment-driven policies, strengthened social protection systems and intensified efforts to prevent sexual and gender-based violence.
Dr Lartey described the media as an indispensable partner in national development and stressed the unique role women journalists play in amplifying the voices of marginalised communities. She called for responsible, ethical and gender-sensitive reporting to help shape public discourse and influence positive social change.
The female senior editors welcomed the engagement and pledged continued collaboration with the Ministry to promote gender equality, child protection and social inclusion. Heads of directorates, departments and units of the Ministry also briefed the editors on their mandates, programmes and achievements.
Concluding the sessions, Dr Lartey reaffirmed the Ministry’s openness to dialogue and partnership, emphasising that sustained collaboration among stakeholders is essential to building a more inclusive, equitable and resilient society.
