The Secretary-General of the African Parliamentary Union (APU), Idi Gado Boubacar, has paid a courtesy call on the Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen inter-parliamentary cooperation across Africa.
The meeting formed part of broader engagements aimed at deepening Ghana’s role within the APU framework and reinforcing collaboration among African legislatures. Discussions focused on enhancing the visibility and effectiveness of the APU, promoting democratic governance, and building stronger synergies to address shared continental challenges.
Speaker Bagbin reaffirmed Ghana’s commitment to the ideals and objectives of the APU, stressing the country’s readiness to support initiatives that advance parliamentary diplomacy, democratic values and regional integration across the continent.
