The Ghana Police Service has engaged authorities of two Central Region schools following a violent clash involving their students that has drawn public concern, officials said.

The Director-General of the Criminal Investigation Department, COP Lydia Yaako Donkor, met management of Swedru School of Business and Obrachire Senior High Technical School to address the incident and outline steps to assist ongoing investigations.

At the meeting, COP Donkor called for calm and cooperation, stressing that police were treating the matter seriously and had launched formal inquiries to determine the full circumstances and identify all students involved. She directed authorities of Swedru School of Business to produce the students suspected to have taken part within 24 hours, saying compliance would support swift and thorough investigations.

Police said the victim of the violence is responding to medical treatment, though no further details about injuries were disclosed.

COP Donkor warned that acts of student violence carry serious consequences and urged school authorities to reinforce discipline and conflict-resolution measures. She reiterated the police service’s commitment to accountability, public safety and law enforcement, particularly within educational institutions.

The engagement forms part of broader efforts by law enforcement to curb rising concerns about student-related disturbances and to ensure that campuses remain safe environments for learning.
