Family friend to the Fosus Evangelist Papa Shee, real name Nana Yaw Akosah, doesn’t want any party to jubilee over the latest High Court ruling on the final funeral rites for Highlife legend Daddy Lumba.
The High Court in Accra on Friday, December 12 ruled that all preparations towards the Saturday, December 13 ceremony should be suspended.
The extended family led by Abusuapanyin Kofi Owusu had led preparations at the Heroes Park of the Baba Yara Sports Stadium for the funeral, which was rescheduled from Saturday, December 6.
But after the immediate family led by sisters of the deceased musician filed a suit to restrain any other member of the family from taking custody of the body for burial, an Accra High Court ruled for a family meeting within three weeks to settle on a date.
But Evang. Papa Shee, a former musician, said this should be taken as victory for the plaintiff.
“Victory has not gone to anybody but God,” he told Onua TV on Friday, December 12, a few moments after the judgement.
“He is a God of justice and God loves the vulnerable, particularly widows, so that is it.”
The presiding judge ordered the family to get back to the court on Thursday, January 15, to which hearing was adjourned.
Evang. Papa Shee expressed confidence that the funeral will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2026.
“That date was not from me,” he stated.
“It is from the family. I usually act as a spokesman of the family and they asked me to announce it.”
